Challenge:
Managing nearly 50 hospitals and over 350 urgent care centers requires vast resources, including a variety of sophisticated software that brings with it a complex series of licenses. When a leading healthcare company found themselves overwhelmed by the intricacies of their licensing position, they brought in SHI’s IT Asset Management (ITAM) team to help ease the burden.
Solution:
SHI’s ITAM team collaborated with the customer to define success indicators and create a communication plan and delivery schedule. We worked with them to analyze their current licensing position, including usage and deployment data, and evaluated potential risk and compliance issues. We provided detailed reports regarding the risks and impacts of non-compliance and continually educated the customer to reduce these factors.
Outcome:
The customer gained unprecedented insight into their asset entitlements through SHI’s ITAM Data Insights portal. By reducing software titles for one major provider, the customer saved $3.8 million over one year. Eliminating unnecessary server and remote desktop subscriptions reduced costs in those categories by 121%. By identifying and removing 689 instances of end-of-life software, we were able to help eliminate potential vulnerabilities and improve the customer’s cybersecurity posture.
