SHI contingency plans for transportation and shipping in case of UPS workers’ strike

Published on : 7/19/2023

SHI International is aware that workers at UPS intend to undertake strike action on August 1st, 2023. We are monitoring the situation closely while also putting in place robust alternative arrangements to ensure minimal disruption to shipments between SHI and our customers.

SHI is working diligently with our supply chain partners to put in place measures that will ensure the continued availability of IT equipment. Equally, SHI has strong relationships with a wide range of courier and transportation partners and is happy to provide customers with recommendations for alternatives to UPS should the threatened strike action go ahead.

Our goal is to provide customers with the very best service levels possible in the event that UPS and its workers fail to come to an agreement before August 1st.

We will update this statement further as the situation develops. In the meantime, please speak to your SHI account manager should you have concerns.

Update 07/26: SHI is pleased to see that UPS and Unions have reached an agreement (pending ratification by UPS workers) that will avoid the planned strike action on August 1st. With this news, SHI is resuming normal operations across our transportation partners.
