Sr. Solution Architect
Dan Vargas is a Sr. Solution Architect and Lead for the Cisco practice at SHI. Dan has a
passion for technology and helping others experience and understand it.
“I want to share my knowledge and experiences with others to help them make
technology business decisions.”
Over the past several decades Dan has taught many Cisco classes and has spent time
mentoring teammates, while designing and deploying networking solutions for both
small and very large clients.
He has over 20 years of experience in Cisco Technologies and holds a Quin CCIE (Cisco
System Internetworking Expert) in Routing/Switching, Security, Collaboration, Data
Center and Wireless. He is one of less than 75 worldwide, (as of Jan 2019) to hold five
(5) active CCIE certifications.
Dan was chosen as one of 25 CCIE’s worldwide to be a founding member of the CCIE
Advisory Council where he contributed to upcoming certifications. He has also
written test questions for Cisco’s IoT MfgSpecialization exam.

In my role as Senior Manager of Network Engineering at TTI, I lead a dynamic team that manages and delivers comprehensive IT services. From crafting IT strategies that resonate with business objectives to collaborating closely with business unit leaders on technology matters, I am dedicated to driving process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
My responsibilities encompass the full spectrum of network infrastructure management, resource allocation, vendor coordination, and the development of robust disaster recovery and cybersecurity policies. Through strategic planning and proactive measures, we ensure seamless operations and safeguard organizational assets against evolving threats.
Beyond the confines of the office, I am a relentless learner, always eager to embrace and implement the latest technological advancements. Balancing my professional pursuits with a passion for the outdoors, I seek solace and inspiration in nature whenever possible.

Senior Network Engineer - Technical Writer
With over 10 years of experience in networking, I am a detail-oriented Air Force Veteran who excels in developing streamlined processes. My background in technical writing allows me to effectively communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner. I am passionate about leveraging my skills to drive innovation and efficiency in every project I undertake. Whether it's troubleshooting network issues, implementing new sites and designs, or creating comprehensive documentation, I thrive on challenges that allow me to showcase my expertise and dedication to excellence.
My responsibilities specialize in network maintenance, design, and optimization, as well as wireless implementation and design. My expertise also extends to Network Security Controls and Documentation development. Although these areas are where I can excel, I consider myself a “Jack of all trades” and am willing to take on any new items that may be needed in order to ensure the mission stays on track and that shortfalls are mitigated with the assistance of my team.
Outside of work, I am someone who values spending time with my family, find peace in working on my classic 67 VW Beetle, and is fascinated by delving into World War II history. Connecting with my veteran friends is also important to me, as we share stories and memories through bonds that last a lifetime.
