Fischer Homes modernizes and secures its IT environment with SHI’s end-to-end expertise

Video Transcript: How SHI helped Fischer Homes simplify IT vendor management

Well, I have worked with SHI long time ago. Roughly 15 years ago with a different SHI rep, we had a great history together and when I became the infrastructure manager for Fischer Homes, it was just a natural selection to move from what they had before to SHI and it turned out to be a very good fit.

Having SHI in our pocket makes it so much easier for us to be able to go and look for a solution through the many vendors that are out there. Maddie worked with Trend Micro and we came up with a enterprise agreement that saved us hundreds of thousands of dollars over the 4-year period. I do not see our relationship slowing down at all with SHI. In fact, I only see our relationship growing. Our CIO is extremely happy with SHI.

Knowing that I can turn to SHI for any questions or needs makes my life way easier in the IT world.

Efficiency

Microsoft Intune simplified device management and reduced manual IT workload across the organization.

As Fischer Homes expanded nationwide, SHI helped the company modernize its IT infrastructure to improve security, simplify management, and control costs.

Challenge:

As one of the nation’s top 30 homebuilders, Fischer Homes has grown into a $1.44 billion business with operations spread across multiple states. With that growth came new IT challenges. Device management was still being tracked in spreadsheets, leaving gaps in accountability and visibility. Backup systems hadn’t evolved in a decade, exposing the company to potential data loss and ransomware risk. On top of that, software licensing had become increasingly complex, making it difficult to avoid overspending or redundant tools.

Infrastructure Manager Troy Riegsecker recognized that Fischer Homes needed a partner who could help streamline vendor relationships, modernize IT infrastructure, and ensure resilience across the enterprise.

Solution:

Fischer Homes turned to SHI, a trusted partner Troy had worked with earlier in his career. SHI helped consolidate vendor management, beginning with a large-scale agreement with Trend Micro that replaced a patchwork of licenses with an enterprise contract. This streamlined approach not only simplified management but also created significant cost savings.

To modernize device management, SHI guided Fischer Homes through the rollout of Microsoft Intune. With Intune in place, the IT team gained centralized visibility, remote policy enforcement, and the ability to push software and security updates without requiring technicians to touch each machine individually.

For data protection, SHI recommended and implemented Rubrik as a new backup and recovery platform. Rubrik introduced immutable backups that require dual authorization for deletion, along with built-in scanning to prevent malware from contaminating recovery points. This delivered stronger cyber resilience and allowed Fischer Homes to test and validate backups with ease.

Outcome:

By consolidating licensing agreements through SHI, Fischer Homes saved hundreds of thousands of dollars over a four-year period while gaining access to a broader set of Trend Micro tools. Intune brought accountability to asset management, improved security through consistent policies, and freed the IT team from manual, repetitive tasks. Rubrik transformed the company’s backup strategy, giving leadership confidence that data is protected, recoverable, and secure from cyber threats.

Most importantly, Fischer Homes strengthened its long-term partnership with SHI. The company’s CIO praised SHI’s contributions, and Troy summed it up simply: knowing he can turn to SHI for any IT question or need makes his life “way easier.” With SHI in their corner, Fischer Homes has built a more resilient, secure, and cost-effective IT foundation that will support its growth well into the future.

“Having SHI in our pocket makes it so much easier for us…”
